Anita Lamb Sorrill (poet/jeweler)
grew up on the prairies beside the
Illinois River. She lived next to the
Mississippi River, in the city that
Mark Twain made famous,
Hannibal. Anita reveled in the
beauty of Hannibal, its wilderness
and her handmade objects.
She committed the rest of her life to
creating artistic treasures. "My
work calls to me when I have been
away from it too long. I have now
reached a point in my life where I
can follow my bliss. I'm constantly
designing and envisioning the
potential of an original piece of
jewelry." She loved taking beads
from old pieces of jewelry and
creating a new work of art. Anita
believed "beads are timeless, with
as much to tell us about the values
and culture of our ancestors as the
historic architecture in a river town
reveals the areas past."
